Oggi mi hanno chiesto di ascoltare un “disco”, è una lavoro musicale impresso su un CD che ha l’aspetto di un vinile, appunto, nero, con etichetta verde acido che fa molto 1989. Si chiama “Cool Past” ed il più esemplare dei casi in cui al titolo di un cd corrisponda una serie di tracce dall’analogo contenuto. Il progetto “Ert” è formato da Viicath, Jil, Matu: tre nomi brevi ma vigorosi come un suono tribale. E da questi tre musicisti che nasce il Cd che ho ascoltato, 4 tracce legate tra loro da un filo comune: un suono che sembra provenire da lontano, che in crescendo si sviluppa intensamente mutando forma e partitura come fosse una creatura vivente. Mi immergo in questo ascolto come in una dimensione atavica, al ritmo antico e tribale da cui deriva la techno sento alternarsi suoni metallici e suburbani, suggestioni post atomiche e vocalizzi cibernetici, esaltati da un BPM insistente, che lascia crescere l’adrenalina. Trovo questo ritmo in evoluzione, progressivo e figlio degli anni ’90, lontano dagli schemi di una costrittiva modernità che appiattisce il pathos sonoro in virtù di un adeguamento al mercato. Lo reputo tanto raffinato da immaginarlo anche fuori da un Club internazionale, perfetto per una passerella Saint Laurent.

Today my friends asked me to listen to a record, it is a musical work impressed on a CD that looks like a black vinyl, with acid green label that makes it so 1989s. It’s called “Cool Past” and it sounds as the most exemplary of the cases in which the title of a CD corresponds to a series of traces of the same content. The “Ert” project is formed by Viicath, Jil, Matu: three short but vigorous names like a tribal sound. And from these three musicians comes the CD that I heard, 4 tracks linked together by a common thread: a sound that seems to come from afar, which grows more and more and develops intensely changing form and score as if it were a living creature. I immerse myself in this listening as in an atavistic dimension, at the ancient and tribal rhythm from which the techno derives I can listen metallic and suburban sounds, post-atomic suggestions and cybernetic vocalizations, enhanced by an insistent BPM, which allows adrenaline to grow. I find this rhythm in evolution, progressive and son of the 90s, far from the schemes of a cheap modernity that flattens the sound pathos by virtue of an adaptation to the pop market. I consider it so refined to even imagine it outside an international Club, perfect for a Saint Laurent catwalk. At the first link below. Good listening.
